I work as a Park Ranger and I give guided cave tours on a regular basis. I also work in other areas of the park, like today I was assigned to the front desk to check in guest and such. Unfortunately during the summer we tend to she short staffed and today was no exception, so when we had a medical emergency on the park things got extra crazy. Our only EMT on park today was giving a tour of the cave but was needed to check on someone who was dehydrated out on our walking/hiking trail which meant I had to leave the desk, drive a park vehicle to the cave and RUN to where she was to take over her tour so she could leave. It's not that I ran that far or fast that I am thrilled at, but the fact that when I got there, told her what was happening, and then took over talking to her guest and describing what they were seeing I WASN'T out of breath like I would have been before! There is no way I could have done that before. My breathing was heavy while running, but when I stopped my breath returned to normal! I just had to share that because it is such a positive feeling

That must have felt wonderful, and saved you a lot of embarrassment. Every victory is a step in the right direction.

Yes, it did save a lot of embarrassment for me! :) and felt great too!

Of course the other good news is that the person who needed the EMT was better after getting some water

Agreed: Awesome! I'd like to go back to where we had a vacation home and I couldn't keep up with my husband during walks because it was quite hilly and I had to stop to catch my breath. That is a great feeling that you weren't ready to collapse but could TAKE OVER a walking tour! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
