How much tea is too much?

I tend to drink 3-5 cups of tea per day. Usually I'll have green tea, but maybe 1 cup of another type of tea per day (usually rooibos, herbal, or the rare cup of English black tea). I try to limit my black tea consumption since it can stain your teeth, but I was wondering if there's any reason I should limit my daily green tea consumption? I know there's caffeine in green tea but I don't really drink coffee so I don't think I'm getting too much caffeine, so are there other reasons?

They say drinking hot green tea is good for you nutritionally...cold isn't as beneficial.
I was drinking 1-3 32oz green teas, cold with 1oz torn syrup everyday. I recently quit and have noticed a difference in my body. Te xtra caffeine makes you swell and bloat.
I think 1-2cups isn't bad!0 -
I do not think you need to limit your intake unless the caffeine bothers you at night.0

Really? Wow, I've never heard of the bloating thing! If anything, I think my stomach has felt flatter lately since increasing my green tea consumption... Hmm...0 -
I drink decaffeinated green tea, on average about 4-5 cups a day. perhaps try the decaffeinated if you are worried about the caffeine?. or have one regular and the rest decaffeinated,0

The WHO recommends 4 cups day. I usually have 4 or 5.0

i drink more than 5 large cups of tea per day ( mainly green tea, max. 1 or 2 of black tea and 1 of sleepy tea) i don't know if it's bad... but i prefer not drinking black tea...
i don't know if i have to log it... my green tea is 5 calories per bag!0 -
I was drinking just regular tea, black, on a regular basis at one point. That's when I saw the biggest drop in my average blood sugar.0

I don't limit my tea, but I also have no issues with caffeine, and take my tea straight, without adding anything, so I don't get any extra calories. I drink a huge variety of types, not just green, but I probably have about 3-5 cups per day, because I'm just a big tea fan.0

Green tea should be 0 cals. If the caffeine doesn't bother you then drink what you like they just say to limit yourself because it is addicting! Caffeine is known to bloat you, but it's strange because green tea is also used as a weight loss aid. I actually take back the 1-2c of green tea...it was 4! Sorry!
I could be less bloated to cause of working out more diligently and eating better!0 -
Thanks for the replies!
I'm not worried about the caffeine. That part doesn't seem to be negatively affecting me in any way. I'm just wondering if there are any reasons I shouldn't be drinking upwards of 5 cups of tea per day? :flowerforyou:0
