I just got my Polar T4 and used it while out in the garden. When I stopped it, it said I wasn't in the zone. So when it says I burned 405 calories.. would I record all of this. I did some sweating out there and it wasnt easy garden work, lots of lifting bending squatting. How do I know how many of those calories were fat burning ones? Do I just record all of them?

Ignore the "fat burning zone" just simply log the total calories burned.

Record it all! Lol, that's my opinion. A calorie burned is a calorie burned, and each one above and beyond your "regular day" is worth recording. Besides, the "zone" that it's telling you that you were out of was one that it picked... there are several "zones", and each one burns calories, just a different amount.

I got a DUO 1025 last weekend, and it tells me an approximate amount of grams of fat burned too... which is cool, but all in all just a bonus, as there is no way to really record it on here.

Well unless you can run while gardening...you likely wont be in the cardio zone (short of lugging around some new plants around or hauling bags of mulch).

I would record them all since you burned off more calories than just sittng still, and while not in the zone you were working harder than a resting state.

If you want the technical answer I'd say do the math. Sit still for an hour with the HRM on, record how many calories you burn doing nothing. The subtract that from the number you burn gardening, this will give you a more accurate measurement of how many calories you burned over your normal sedentary burn that the body does naturally while not moving.

I wear mine when I'm doing something out of the ordindary...like mowing the lawn, weeding the garden, etc.... so I log it all
