Am still trying to get my head around all the different sections of My fitness pal but am enjoying doing something for myself for a change. I dont always eat the right foods and have never thought of Calorie counting before but must admit it is good to see just how many calories i am consuming per day. I have never been an exercise freak or even been into a gym - i just do it as and when i can.
I am hoping that by doing more exercise and eating properly i will see a difference and will feel better in myself.

And you absolutely will. With more exercise comes more fitness, greater health, greater strength, better organ functioning and of course more calorie consumption. With better eating comes more energy, more nutrition, less processed food, sugars, fats, unwanted additives, etc. All together, a better state of mind and body. Have a wonderful journey.

    Hi Claire,

I love this site, it really helps you keep a focus on what you are eating.

I`m the same as you I just exercise as when I can. i go for walks at lunchtime instead of siting at my desk and, as you know, running after the kids can burn off quitie a bit!

After trying all of the "diets" I`ve come to the conclusion that its a lifestyle change that I needed. Eat healthy and less and then move more. Tthe support on here helps a lot as well!

Best of Luck! Fell free to add me as a friend - You can`t have too many friends...

Looging you food def helps!!! It does me anyways.....I always really want to stay under or just at my daily cals without going over. So, it helps me make better food choices..and when you workout, does not have to be at the gym,, could be walking, gardening, house work, a workout dvd...you get extra cals for the day. I lost 70lbs on my own, never going to t he gym, counting cals on my own....then i find MFP from a friend...wish i would of had this earlier, but now i love it to maintain my weight and talk to others!!:) Good luck!!:)

It's well known, in the psych world, that just by paying attention to something (i.e., money, food) we get "better" at it :) I think MFP helps with that-- I'm not a terrible eater but writing down what I eat every day helps me be more mindful about it.

    Best!

  • Hi
I think most of us are not exercise freaks and love our food a bit too much especially the bad stuff lol. For the first two months I stuck to changing my diet and initially I lost alot due to not eating as I had a break down of a long term relationship. It gave me a kick start though and my eating has changed radically, I do watch the calories and very rarely go over now. Then a month ago I got the wii out and started on the exercise plan. I also did 50 crunches per day but finding that is tough on the back so decided to buy a 6 second ab crunch machine so hopefully this will help. MFP is brilliant and its the first time i have stuck to healthy eating for longer than 1 month.
