Hey all - I've never posted to the message boards before, so be gentle with me. :) My name is Nikki - I have a goal to lose 30 lbs. I successfully lost 20 pounds many years ago with weight watchers, and have been blessed so far in life with never having any periods of time where I have gained a LOT of weight, but it's been creeping up for a few years now and I'm not very happy with how I look. Anyway, last time I lost weight, I used Weight Watchers and only dieted - no exercise and had pretty good success. Over the past few years (post WW), I have had problems with motivation, but if I really was vigilant and put my mind to it, I could always lose weight at around 1 pound a week on average. Now, I don't know if it's because I passed the magic 30 mark (I'm 31) or something else, but I have been trying for 2 months now and training for my first ever half marathon and have lost NOTHING. I totally admit that I have frequent lapses - especially in journaling, and no, I don't drink much water (it makes me sick to do so I've found - a post for another time). But I am frustrated because it doesn't feel like I'm doing anything different than what I've done in the past when I have lost weight, but this time the weight just won't budge. The good news is that I have lost 2 inches off my waist (yay!), but interestingly, nothing off my hips or thighs.
At this point, I'm just trying to believe that if I keep it up, I will eventually see changes, but its hard not to get down and want to give up. I had really wanted to lose a good chunk of my goal by my vacation at the end of September, but right now it just feels like I will always be this weight and this size. Any words of encouragement or advice would be appreciated. I also think I need more accountability, so if anyone wants to friend me, feel free to do so. Thanks in advance!
Nikki

hi, feel free to add me if you like, a bit of accountability always helps! Drinking water helps a lot i find, it supresses you appetite as sometimes we think we are hungry but we are actually thirsty. Well done for the hard work you are putting in, it can be really discouraging not to see any results, but it will happen. September is still a few months off, you have the rest of june, all of july and august to work out. Just think, if you try to continue til september it is likely you will see more inch loss, even if you dont see much weigh loss, but when you are on holiday do you want to be thinking 'why o why did i give up, i could have lost another inch or lb' or do you want to think 'i lost another 2 inches I'm so glad i didnt quit' ? it motvates me, because I know if i quit now I will look back in a years time and think i wish i had done it then! keep going, you are doing great!! xx
