  • I may be overlooking something but it seems the only meat you're eating, besides canned tuna, is chicken. Give yourself some variety. I love turkey sausage, salmon, and lean beef. For snacks I eat World Table Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread Squares or veggie straws. I can take them to work and just nibble on them. I'm also a big fan of fiber plus bars. Feel free to check out my diary and see if anything on there interests you. Don't look at my weekend though. IT WAS NOT PRETTY

You really have some excellent choices there! Some ideas that come to mind for a swap on your list is maybe choose the Quaker High Fiber Oatmeal. For the cereals you could consider Kashi brand. The tend to be higher in fiber and quite a few have as much protein as an egg in one serving. Also the tortillas could be replaced with Light FlatOuts. Each one has 9g fiber and 9g protein and besides being used for burritos or wraps can be used as the base for a personal pizza :) Another thing I don't see besides the PB are nuts. Almonds are a great addition to consider with good fats.. Also if you like them add in an avocado. High in fiber and good fats, overall nutrient rich, in moderation it could be a great addition to your week.

Beef jerky is high in protein and fairly low in fat/carbs for a snack.
The Great Value brand (Walmart) has 80 cals, 1g fat, 5g carb and 14g protein in a 1 oz serving. The problem is not eating the whole bag! :)

    Hi

You should be really careful of the sugar contents of your food. Try to look for breakfast cereals with 4 or less grams of sugar. You really should try to incorporate more veggies too...The cheese from great value is most likely made with whole milk and extremely fattening... there are other brands with reduced fat or fat free which are a lot more healthy. Also it seems like you have a lot of processed foods in your diet which contain a lot of sodium. Try looking for whole grains and non-instant oatmeal. Try also looking for organic or natural peanut butter. Jiff Peanut butter and Skippy and other brands have been described basically as peanut flavored cake frosting, and really should be avoided. I like PB2. It has a lot less fat and calories and is all natural and MUCH healthier. Overall, it doesnt seem like you eat a lot of fruits and veggies. You should try some plain fat free greek yogurt with fresh berries, or apples and pears. celery and carrot sticks also make a great replacement for chips and crackers.

Switching to organic brands will always be healthier. It is expensive, but if you can afford it you should do it! I cant afford to get everything organic so I try to buy my produce organic and I get my meat at the local butcher and I buy it in bulk and freeze it becuase it's cheaper! Also, tyson brand chicken is so gross! If you have never seen the movie Food Inc. you should. You will never buy Tyson again! You would be better off just cooking a few chicken breast and cutting them up and keeping them in your fridge for adding to salads ect. It's cheaper that way too! Good luck!

I do not have lots of experience but a recent diagnosis of high blood pressure has made me cautious about salt (sodium). What you have been eating seems good for a reduced calorie diet. However, be aware of the amount of sodium in processed foods. The acceptable level of sodium intake per day should be around the 2500mg range for a person with no health issues. For someone like me it drops to 1200 - 1500mg.

As for some alternatives to what you have been eating. I did not see any beans or nuts mentioned.

One of my new favorite foods is Black Bean salads. A simple Google search will get you many websites that have some great bean salad recipes. And, to make the salad's low sodium. Start with dried bulk packaged beans instead of canned beans. The can beans can have up to 500mg of sodium per serving.

    Good luck!
  • I was getting bored with my diet also and made this little pizza meal. The entire thing is 335 calories and pretty lean. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it and it’ll help break up the monotony for you.
    1. Thomas' multi-grain English muffin – cut in half - 100 calories total.
    2. Muir Glen Organic Pizza Sauce – ¼ Cup (more than enough) - 45 calories.
    3. Raw Onions – 1 tbsp – 5 calories.
    4. Diced Red, Yellow & Green bell peppers – 1/3 cup total – 20 calories.
    5. Kraft fat free shredded mozzarella – ¼ cup per side – 90 calories total.
    6. Butterball ground turkey (93/7) – 2 oz. – 75 calories.
    7. Add some cilantro, black pepper, or red pepper for flavor.
Put it in the toaster oven or regular over until the muffin is crispy and the cheese is melted… usually 10ish minutes at 350ish. :)

Feel free to peruse mine as well- I like variety.

Cheese is a high fat content- I have found several varieties with reduced fat- it tastes just as good ( imo) but I save A LOT of calories- not sure if the cheese you listed was reduced or not.

I like plain non fat yogurt but sweeten it with stevia and fresh fruits or True Lemon packets ( won't ingest aspartame or sucralose- makes me sick)
