Can Dehydration affect weight loss - in that have put weight on?

This is only over a 24 or poss 48 hour time frame. Yesterday, you could say that I over did it on the cals front in that I went to gym in the morning for about 1 1/2 hours and then carried on working in the garden for about 4 hours in total taking regular 5-10min breaks as I was digging and weeding for the most part of it.

Throughout the day I probably drank about 1 - 1 1/2 ltrs of water, but it wasn't til the early evening that i noticed my pee was very yellow, putting it down to early signs of dehydration I managed to drink a further ltr of water throughout the evening.

Now I know I'm going to get told I shouldn't weigh myself everyday, but I do, it helps me to be displined and it shows me various patterns (ie TOM, overeat on cals, exercise)

In this instance I've put on 2 1/2lbs from what I was yesterday morning. I wore a HRM all day which showed I'd burned 5000 in 10 1/2 hours. If I had eaten more of my exercise cals then I did I would be weighing even more (been there a few times and find that I have to stick to the core cals and can occasionally get away with no more than an extra 400 cals from what I earn exercising). But it got me thinking if it had something to do with not drinking enough water throughout the day.

Any ideas are welcome (oh & no TOM is not due lol)

    Hi,

Dehydration and water retention can effect your weight.

Aim to drink the same amount every day.

    best of luck.

Wait a few days and see what happens on the scale before you worry about it. I've had bad days on Cals which ended in weight loss and vise versa... Its only over a week or two that you can really see what is going on because your body will naturally vary. (with women its even more complicated - you girls are on a monthly cycle which messes everything up even more.

If you insist on weighing yourself every day - fine - but log it every time then look at the trend - not on a day by day scale. Go further - weight yourself before breakfast, lunchtime and before you go to bed - its amazing how much you change even in a day. I would probably compare 'Max and Min' with the same date a month ago - now that really shows progress!
