Complete Loss of Motivation...

So, I joined MFP back in January. I was doing really well and then tax season hit me, hard. I gave in to all the doughnuts and fast food all over again. I was determined to get back on track in April after the 15th and then April 27th came. That day, tornadoes tore through my state and completely destroyed the two towns that I grew up in and went to college at. Both towns, Tuscaloosa and Sylvania, are just gone. I was and am so depressed. I remember telling my husband that I haven't been this sad since 9/11. Anyways, I have been eating like there is no tomorrow. I've gained all that I lost plus some. I just don't feel like dieting. I need to be motivated. I need a good kick in the butt. I've been trying to get back at it without MFP these last two weeks but I believe I do better when I use it. I need suggestions on how to stay motivated and any tips to keep me on track would be great too. Thanks!

I wish I had some suggestions but unfortunately I am in the same boat as you are. However, I am looking forward to see suggestions from others.

My feelings on this is that you have to take care of yourself mentally as well as physically. Exercising can definitely improve your mood, but after a traumatizing event like that, one might look to a doctor or possibly a counseling center, especially if you're still feeling like it gets in the way of you being happy and motivated since April. Then once you start feeling better, you might find it easier to find motivation. (Sorry as this may not be taken the way I wanted it to be. I know a lot of people are against seeing a counselor or therapist, but I know many that it has helped, even if it's just for a couple of sessions)
