What was your longest plateau? Why do you think it happened? What did you do to break through and start losing again?

I am in a mini plateau. No losses for almost 2 weeks, but I did just start exercising alot and have recently stared eating more calories. I know this is probably nothing, but I have been losing pretty quickly until I stared working out more!

This doesn't mean that I will stop working out, I'm just curious how others have overcome plateaus.

I plateaued for about 6 months... so 2 weeks to me doesn't sound like a bad deal. I've only finally started losing again in the last 2 weeks. I had to really look at my eating habits and I cleaned them up entirely. My food diary is public. Basically I keep to less than 1500mg of sodium a day, get 100g of protein, and I bring my lunch to work every day instead of buying it from somewhere. I also have a protein smoothie for dinner. Overall, I eat about 1500 calories a day. Didn't really change my workouts aside from adding in some more strength and running less. But it seems to have done the trick, finally!

I'm stuck in a 3 week plateau myself, but with only 16 lbs lost, I feel I might be a little early for a long one. I'm not even halfway done!
  • Busting through plateaus are hard!! I've usually increased or changed up my workout routine. Just recently, I did a 3 day cleanse and I lost 7 lbs....worked great!!

I had a 1-week plateau during the last cycle... Overcame it with patience.

It actually helps to get into "trend weight" calculation (I used the Hacker's diet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hacker's_Diet). Trend weight is something I really miss on this site, and that helps tremendously with plateaus (see http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/e4/signalnoise.html).

If you have an Android phone, you can use LIBRA as a weight recording tool - it calculates trend weight, is quite pretty, and is free.

Well I was in a plateau, for about 6 months. and I think i was because for 1 my dad got real sick & I was in & out of hospitals, then my daughters seizures were very active, so couldnt leave her out of my sight. Then I wasnt really exercising as much, but now that everything has calm down & I am out of work for the summer I am exercising & toning a lot more so now I am back on track for losing the weight....

My Plateau is BUSTED! I lost 4 lbs! My body was probably hanging on to it because of my kicked up exercise lately. It probably wasn't even a plateau, but it was a bit discouraging. Thank you all for helping me get through it!
