How can I beat tiredness during a workout?

I walk a lot around my community, doing 5-6 miles a day. I sometimes start to feel tired while walking. You know, the droopy eyes, exhausted limbs.. and I still have a good 2 miles before I get home.
How can I beat or prevent this from happening? I usually eat a light lunch (salad) before walking, and I walk an hour and a half (or two) after breakfast. I drink plenty of water... not sure what else to do.
Help!

I'd say more likely than not you're just getting kind of bored with your walk. Try listening to music while you walk, and also the hydration is a big factor. Drink lots of water while you're exercising (obviously), but make sure you hydrate before (like 5-6 hours) you exercise too.

Protein, lots of it. Whether it's a good lean cut of meat, some nuts, or whatever your preference, as long as it has high amounts of protein for your body to burn for fuel.

Load up that salad with veggies (good carbs) and add some protein. Both will give you the energy you need during your workout. A slice of whole grain toast is a good addition too.

Walking can be pretty boring. That's one of the reasons I run, it covers the distance quicker. Perhaps a salad isn't enough to keep your energy levels throughout a couple of hours of walking?

Might be too low in protein but can't see you diary. Try a proten bar (17 grams or more) and between that and the carbs it may help. May need more protein overall as well. Make sure you are also getting enough fiber and water.

I agree. Your body may need just a little more fuel for that walk!

A really refreshing way to pick yourself up during a work out is to drink apple cider vinegar water. Two teaspoons in a bottle of water will give you a boost, and the nutrients it contains are great for you in general. Not the best tasting, but extremely refreshing, (particularly for hiking and back packing.) I only recommend doing this with apple cider vinegar that contains "the mother." It has a ton of other benefits too, and it also makes your hair and nails grow long and strong.

Are you physically tired? Do you need a qhick power nap before your afternoon walk?
Are you lacking nutrition? Maybe a few more carbs (brown rice, wholegrain bread?) with your salad would give you energy?
Are you bored? Audio books are great to listen to when you're walking.

i eat every two hours; so maybe having your snack before your workout will help. ive heard a complex carb before workout and protein after. take a different route so u arent bored with the walk, walk different places, do different things.

I try to drink at least 16 oz of water and have lots of protein before a workout....be it nuts, string cheese, cottage cheese, etc.

A salad wouldn't sustain me for more than a couple blocks unless it had lots of protein in it. You need fuel to go.

Thanks for all of the input everyone! I think protein is the issue.. and I definitely need more of it. I don't eat meat, so that means more TVP, beans, and tofu I suppose. Although I do get a lot of seeds and nuts... hm...
Could be boredom too! It's almost all uphill so I really get more distracted with the incline rather than what to look at.
