Question about Working Out

Hi Everyone!
I have a couple of questions....
I am about to turn 41, I have been playing tennis on a league 3-4 times per week for the past 3 years and I quit smoking 5 years ago. I am 5'1 and weigh 149- size 10. When I quit smoking, I was at 128- size 6 w/ very poor fitness. I gained 16-18 lbs a couple of years after quitting smoking and then started the tennis. I have also done LOTS of exercise videos over the years but have not been able to get past 140. In all fairness- I know I would weigh MUCH more from the amounts I have eaten if I were not so active BUT enough is enough and I really need to lose 25 lbs.
So after that long background........... I am committed- I started my log in's accounting for EVERY bite that I take.
1st Question: I have pulled out my Walk Away the Pounds to start with.... Is it better to work out before OR after breakfast? which is Old-fashioned Oatmeal-w/1 tsp sugar- 1tsp of natural Peanut Butter.
2nd Question- How should I account for the strength training Leslie does w/ some of the walks?

First of all, WELCOME! MFP is a great place to learn all about fitness.
Ok, when you work out is up to you. i need a little fuel before I workout, simply because I feel like I'll burn out long before I'm done! I'm not entirely sure what Walk Away The POunds is, but if it's going to last longer than 30 minutes, I would have at least a couple of apple slices. If it's under an hour, that should do it. Whatever you decide, remember to give your body time to digest what food you eat before doing an intense workout.
As for the strength training. Under Cardio, search for "strength training" and enter the minutes there.
One thing that I've noticed and that many Heart Rate Monitor weares have noticed is that this site and every site out there estimates calories burned. The very best way to see exactly how many calories you're burning at rest and at your workout is with a heart rate monitor.

ITA with Fab140. If you need food before a workout, eat something. I'm the opposite. I cannot eat then workout as I feel sick. So I don't.
There's all sorts of data supporting one or the other as the better way to lose weight - but seriously - it's what ever works for you.0
