Last week I did my first kickboxing class and got really lucky chosing to drink an Isagenix shake with soy milk before my workout so that when I got home and tested my blood sugar I was at 72--not great but not as bad as I was worried it would be. Well, I was REALLY full from it so only drank about 1/2 and finished the rest when I got home. I wear an insulin pump so it's very important that I have enough carbs in me prior to disconnecting the pump and then working out for an hour. What do you eat pre-workout and post-workout? I think it's supposed to be carbs/protein before and protein after... is that right?

Carbs and protein before, protein after. Also you should drink a ton after :)

I try to eat a protien bar before my workout(a cliff builder bar) or toast with peanut butter, apple with peanut butter.. you get the idea.

Afterwards I eat some form of lean meat or a salad... I've also heard that chocolate milk is a good choice for an after workout drink. You said you drank a shake with soy milk, so maybe try chocolate soy milk.

My trainer told me to drink a serving size of low fat chocolate milk after the workout. I have also heard this from several others too!
