I also have bad left wrist with arthritist so I can't put much weight on it or do things like push ups ... would that be an issue. basically i can't put direct weight on my palm (especially not 280 lbs of weight)0

I recommend starting with Power 90 (basically P90X for beginners)...It's also a Beachbody program.0

IMO- yes, absolutely! I'm not saying you're going to lose all the weight from doing the P90X program but you will definitely benefit greatly from it! You may need a little additional cardio though.0

if you can't put any weight on your wrist then I'd try a different program, p90x does a lot of push ups.
But any size can do p90x, it would just be a bit more modified then the more fit person0 -
There is a fitness test you should pass before starting P90X. There is also options for modified versions of just about every workout they do. That said I think that it's not the type of thing you get up and do from the couch, you should already be into a workout routine and fitness level before starting.
I have decided to only to the Ab and Yoga videos at this point because some of the videos are still too difficult for me and I walk/run 2 miles 4-5 times a week, lift light weights and have lost 64lbs already.0 -
You do what you can do as long as you do it with intensity. These workouts are designed so that anyone can do them but you must push as hard as you can go. I'd recommend the Turbo Fire program which is what I started just over a week ago x0

Anyone can do P90X despite their size! Most of the results on their commercial are of people moderately out of shape who have done a round (90 days) of P90X and are ripped. Search YouTube for other P90X transformations. There are a lot of videos of people with 100+ pounds to lose who are also seeing great results but may need to do 2 or 3 rounds before they see the amazing results like the commercial.
I did a round of P90X with 30 pounds to lose and it really helped tone me up. The thing I like about it is that you can go at your own pace and aren't discouraged if you can only do 5 reps of one exercise. Just take a rest and jump back in when you are ready. The next time you do it, try for a few more reps. It's not about keeping up with the professionals in the DVDs... it's about building and achieving your OWN personal best.
Good luck!0 -
It was designed to get people ripped etc.. BUT I have seen people who are very overweight and have 50+ lbs to lose and use P90x to get the same results you just have to do it in more rounds. Like one man used P90x 5 times to achieve the goal he wanted but he want from a huge cow to awesomely fit.
It will take dedication, and the scale won't look as drastic as just cardio because P90x builds muscle as well, and muscle weighs more than fat so don't expect extreme number loss on the scale but pay attention to inches lost etc.
I have 50lbs to lose and am starting P90x on July 1st. Remember its OKAY to modify the workouts if there are some thigns you can't do, you don't have to be able to keep up or do them perfect, just do what you can and as time progresses it WILL get easier.0 -
there are modifications for every exercise, such as for push ups you can do them from your knees. makes it a little bit easier of course, also only do what you think you can handle. lastly there are examples of people who have lost 100 pounds while doing P90x either google it or try youtube. best of luck to you0

If the workouts become too intense for you, modify them so you can keep going, but not strain yourself too much. For instance, if I'm doing push ups and I feel like I'm reaching my limit, I would get on my knees and do push ups from there for a bit.
Also, I believe the push up bars that Tony Horton uses in the videos would put less strain on your wrists: http://workoutjourney.com/push-up-bars-for-p90x/0 -
I suggest you start with the Power 90 (P90) program. The P90X requires a lot of pushups and pullups. If you can's perform many of these it will be harder to maintain your target heart rate while exercising and you will not see large gains unless you can do a minimum of 5-8 reps of each exercise.
The Power 90 program is a great place to start. P90X is describes as a program for people who are already in good shape. Many people choose to forget/ignore this fact.

Talking of the push up bar, I have yet to pull myself up >.< but there is the resistance band you can use instead of the push up bar that works. I've done P90X for about a month last summer and have been off and on again this year. Next week I plan to start it and completely finish. Whenever there are workouts that get too hard for me, I just jog in place or do jumping jacks so that I am still keeping my heart rate up. Do as much as you can and when you feel like you can't do anymore, just jog in place until the next routine, so even push the pause button. Tony shows lots of different ways to his workouts, especially the plyometrics routine, which I sometimes have troubles with because working at Sonic and being on my feet all the time has given me a sore knee. I especially love the Kenpo Karate, however, it let's me picture what I'd do to some people if I could LOL.0
