Farm shares, anyone?

This is my second year of having a farm share and i just picked up my first box this past weekend. It is SOOOOO much easier to eat healthy when your fridge is jam packed with in season vegetables demanding to be eaten. It also encourages me to try new recipes.....(like i ever knew what a beet was before, HA!)
Does anyone else participate in a farm share? love it? hate it?

I do a CSA here. LOVE IT!! The only share I am not happy with is the winter share, mostly because it is winter stuff, mostly root veggies.0

I have one available, right down the road, but I have a HUGE garden - so I am all set!0

I signed up for my first one this year and will be picking it up on Thursday! I am excited to see what will be in the box and it will force me to try some new veggies.0

I'm a farmer john fan myself. (its so easy bc there are so many chicago pick up sites!) but i have heard about a lot of others in chicagoland and beyond.
CSA's seem to becoming a big thing, hopefully!

Sadly, the farm-share type gig we have locally doesn't have all that wonderful a bounty. Often the fruits or veggies are either majorly underripe or just on the verge of going over, and the selection isn't left up to us, but rather preboxed/bagged by workers, so I have no say on what's in my basket. It was a major disappointment, I'm glad yours is better.

do a google search for your area or look up info on your local farmer's market, or go there and ask around about farm shares.0

I have been participating for over 2 years and have found some new foods (shocking!) that I enjoy! I have a small home garden to compliment my csa. The neat thing is that muy csa has different pick-up options; so I can choose weekly, bi-weekly etc...0

My first CSA pickup is on Thursday. I am so excited! I am in Connecticut where it is probably cooler than a lot of places, so I am anticipating the first round to have strawberries, asparagus, radishes, and spinach. Not sure what else will be in there. I love the surprise of it all, lol.0
