I just started insanity and my teeth started to hurt on the back side of my front teeth. Some of the pain is still there today. Anyone know why? or how to prevent it?

I don't have any cavities.

  • Are you clenching your jaw? maybe you need to us a mouthguard?

make sure you aren't clenching your teeth/jaw- i find my teeth hurting sometimes and simply by making sure my mouth is relaxed/slightly open i can relive and prevent it

make sure when you are doing your workouts you aren't clenching your teeth or pushing your lower jaw into the back of the teeth in your upper jaw...beyond that I can only tell ya to check with your dentist if it persists. Good luck!

No, im not clenching. It has something to do with when I'm breathing in I think. I can really feel it then. My mouth seems to water behind my bottom teeth or something its weird. It taste different too. I have seen others have the same problem when I google it but none that know whats happening.
  • I have severe teeth sensitivity. I have to get mine de-sensitized at the dentist every 3 months. Since I started eating healthier I've found that they are acting up more...maybe from the new foods? Plus, they hurt after my workouts, I think this is because when I'm really working out I breathe through my mouth and the air might create this. Anyway, my sensitivity is from thin enamel and occasionally clenching when I'm asleep. I find the more weight I lose the more I clench...maybe this is happening to you?

When I first started running I had that problem...my bottom row of front teeth would hurt and ache when I ran. I don't remember how long it took, but it did go away. I run three days a week now (have for over a year) and I can't remember the last time my teeth hurt - even in the winter months!

I think your right, I saw this on the web which goes along with what your saying.

" I hardly ever run and used to smoke all the time, but when I would try to run after I would slow down or stop for that matter.. my head would begin to feel light and my bottom front teeth (basically down in the gums) would begin to ache quite badly… this along with a very sour taste as well as a thick saliva in my mouth. It has to do with the amount of blood flow/oxygen. If you are out of shape and try to run, your body takes blood from certain areas of the body (ex. kidneys, stomach, liver and even the mouth in some cases, because every bit helps) and sends the blood to the heart etc. then once you stop running blood then tries to get back to the areas hence the tooth pain in the “gum area”..
So if your teeth hurt when you run…. all it means is you are very out of shape and your body has to try and get blood from all over (even the mouth) to get the oxygen it needs!"

I guess im just out of shape but i already knew that!

Mine have been killing me when I workout! My teeth, jaws and gums ache so bad. I make sure I'm not clenching but wondered what it was.. now I know! Thanks!!!! Good to know it will get better as I get in better shape!!
  • I ran after a friend of mine for maybe 8 min and finally got mu usb port back. That was on Monday 11/12/12 and my lower teeth still hurt, the pain is in my teeth but my gums feel swollen. When will the pain stop it's already been 2 days.
  • Dehydration always makes my teeth hurt. Are you getting plenty of water?
  • I mostly drink just water everyday, But since the pain is so bad in my teeth I can't even really eat. Its's mostly just the front teeth.
  • My gums hurt for the first time after running today, so maybe some history of myself will help come up with possible reason.

Growing up I had asthma, but played sports so I was in pretty God shape and didn't have this problem. A year ago I was in decent shape and didn't have this problem. Since then I havent been excercising, I gained fifteen pounds, and I started having trouble with allergies for the first time. I don't smoke. I went on a short jog, my allergies and asthma started acting up and after I stopped jogging my lungs throat and gums hurt. My lungs and throat stopped hurting before my teeth stopped hurting.

So, it could be that I'm in worse shape and am not used to running so they weren't used to it and hurt from the sudden change in excercising. It could be from allergies and my airway not being fully open, but is there a nasal cavity above front teeth and molars, or just above the molars? Because my front teeth and gums hurt too. Also I was breathing through my mouth and not clenching my teeth.

You can find everything online! Weird but interesting, glad you figured it out.
