Is seltzer water the same as drinking water?

I think so, as long as it does not have any artificial sweetener. What does everyone else think?
  • Two questions to determine that. 1) If there is sodium then no, because you will retain instead of flush. 2) If there is caffiene then the answer again is no, because caffiene is a diuretic and causes us to lose water. If the answer to these two questions is no then I would count it as water. Just my opinion though. :drinker:

I'm seeing a nutritionist and she told me the same info as above!

I drink Vintage, Adirondak, and Trader Joe's brand seltzer water and my nutritionist told me they count as my water!

Unless it has sodium, artificial sweeteners, or caffeine, then I guess it's just water with bubbles in it. *shrug* I'd count it as water.

I thought the carbonation wasn't supposed to be good for your muscles if you're working out...

Okay great I drink both but sometimes I like to have seltzer with my meals. So if seltzer is the same as drinking water I am definitely consuming enough water.
