I've heard people say that both are better. The military still uses situps. My personal trainer prefers crunches?

Anyone?

Easiest - you bet! (But what about my ikky "muffin top"? How do I make it a "reduced fat" one?) LOL

Having done both...I would say neither.

HOWEVER, if I were to do them. I would do Crunches on an excercise ball.

I prefer crunches-- (perhaps that's because I couldn't sit up without aid if you paid me-- )

The best way to make it a "reduced fat" one is more cardio. You can do all the situps and crunches you want but you will just have great abs underneath it all. :flowerforyou:

A lot of trainers use crunches as opposed to sit-ups, because there are less injury risks using crunches. With sit-ups are you utilizing more of your core muscles, so there is more of a chance for lower back tweaking if your abs aren't strong enough to do them properly.

Rather than do just one or the other... think about balancing your core muscles. You need to work your abdominals (including your obliques) as well as your back muscles. You want to balance your core. Look for a well-rounded core routine that takes all of the muscles into accountability.
