Ovarian Cyst, anyone have some advice

Ok, so I went to the Dr. regarding my cyst today. It did shrink by one inch, so it is down to around 4" in diameter. That's good news 
My choices were a) wait it out and hope it gets better b) lapriscopic surgery to drain the cyst and take a look around to see why it may be there. Wow, great options...Anyone else go through this?
I do have PCOS, but that is mostly unrelated to this new one. I am hypothyroid, which can increase risks of getting a cysts and I have a Mirena.
