How many carbs a day?!

I've been reading a lot about how eating less carbs can do more for you but what is the maximum amount of carbs a day should you be getting. MFP says I should eat about 280 carbs but I average about 170. Is that too high?

I could give you a scientific answer, but the long and short of it is, the recommendations are fairly specific. Nothing, however, is written in stone. A lot depends on nutrition, and variety of foods too. I suggest you try things your way for a while. if you don't get the results you are hoping for, try it MFP's way. Good luck!

If they are good carbs, and you are eating enough protein, then that should be good. If it works keep doing it. If it doesn't than change it.

I was always over on my protein so I lowered my carbs to 45% which upped my Protein. Now It works for me. You need to switch things around to see what works best for the way you eat.

Although I've been a bad girl today (hey, the sundae was calling my name!) I *usually* do 100 grams a day or less and that has been sustainable for the most part.

I have been trying to eat 100 a day. All good carbs no breads, pastas, wheat. I also like to change it up too and eat 100 - 150 sometimes. I never eat what is recommended though.

I guess if you are eating all fruits and veggies you would be fine to eat what they say.
