I just used my Polar FT7 (awesome I might add) It said I burned 556 calories doing 55 minutes of execise. I did 20 minutes of stationary biking at Vigorous level( I think my RPMs were in the 90s) I then did 20 minutes Eliptical. and 15 minutes of circuit training. MFP said I burned 729 calories. The polar FT7 was dead on accurate with what the machines said my heart rate was. My average heart rate was 120 and the highest was 151.

My question is which should I use to log in my workouts, I am thinking thePolar is more accurate, and thenI am gonna have to guesstimate how to get MFP as close to the polar as possible.

Polar, without a doubt. Dont even mess around with MFP's estimates if you have a HRM!

ps, you can type in any amount of calories you want after you enter the minutes in MFP

You can put in your the number from your HRM, you don't need to go by what MFP calculates.

For the activities you mention, MFP numbers are not very good. (For running and walking, they are maybe more accurate than an HRM, but not for cycling and esp not for an elliptical).

Just one caution: the fact that your heart rate on the HRM matches the HR reading on the machine means nothing when it comes to determining accuracy of calorie estimate. Even a cheapo HRM can accurately measure heart rate--that's the easy part.

    Definitely go with your HRM.

Also, by the way, the machines at your gym "talk" to your HRM. So that heart rate that displayed on the machine was coming from your HRM.
