today i broke a fast i've been on for the last 3 weeks by going to popeye's for dinner (not the best choice, but moving on...lol). NORMALLY i would just chalk it up to a loss for logging calories and just ASSUME i went over. but today i took the time to find out the nutritional info for EVERYTHING i ate for dinner. it was hard to see it on the screen, in my diary. but hey, it's there.

another nsv, i'm not beating myself up about going to popeyes for dinner. this was my first major indulgence in three weeks but i'm back in business tomorrow morning!

oh, and in case you were wondering, the popcorn shrimp basket w/ regular fries, a biscuit, 2 jelly packs & 2 cocktail sauces has: 980 calories, 96g carbs, 38g fat, 18g protein, 2,950mg sodium & 75mg cholesterol...you know, just in case you were wondering :drinker:

in general fasting is used as a way to clear space (emotional, physcial, spiritual) in one's life in order to grow closer to God. the daniel fast is based on the fast daniel did in chapter 1 of the book. quick background is that daniel and the other israelites were being held captive by the babylonians. the king of babylon wanted to have certain israelites in the royal family educated on babylonian language/history. once in the king's palace daniel did not want to eat the royal food and wine as it was against jewish food tradition and would defile his body. anyway he petitions to be allowed to eat veggies and drink water for 10 days in order to prove he and the other israelites wouldn't be in worse condition after only having veggies and water. turns out daniel and his friends looked healthier and better nourished than the other young men who were eating the royal food. the 21 days of the fast are based on the 10th chapter of the book of daniel where daniel prays fervently for 21 days to gain understanding of a dream. the Bible explains that the revelation took 21 days because the angel who was to give the revelation was blocked by the king of persia for that amount of time. so, to make this long explanation short, the 21 days represents the amount of time it may take for one's breakthrough/blessing or revelation to come due to forces against God trying to block the message/blessing. this explanation isn't as detailed as it could be, but hopefully it sheds some light
