Depends on what you define as "too much." Anything above what MFP sets your limit? NOTHING will happen. They default the goal extremely low. I have heard tales of kidney damage on extremely high protein diets...but have never experienced this at all myself. I have gone 50% protein for a few months before (50/30 carbs/20 fat) and everything was fine. Doctor always gave me good reports. I was following the P90X diet to a T a couple of years ago and did Phase 1 twice since I missed too many workouts, lol.0

"Kidney damage on too high of protein diet" I think is not true. Maybe protein mixed with Creative or other supplements, but shouldn't be by itself.
The common side effect of too much protein - Constipation. You'll be crapping out a screamer. Ya know, where it feels like its coming out sideways.
To avoid that kind of fun, drink a TON of water, and eat plenty of fruits and healthy fats to soften you up.
Personal experience on this one, not real pleasant.0 -
Dr Atkins died from something related to his high protein/high fat diet. Or so was said in my training workshop a couple of weeks back.
Fibre helps soften you up too. lol.0 -
Eating to much protein is bad yes. It can cause you to buildup toxic ketones. Which can thrust your kidneys into overdrive in order to flush these ketones from your body. As your kidneys rid your body of these toxic ketones, you can lose a significant amount of water, which puts you at risk of dehydration, particularly if you exercise heavily.
Hope this will help you!!0 -

So basically what you just said is "protein puts your kidneys to work, so be sure to drink your water so you don't dehydrate." :bigsmile:0
