Hi,

Is the daily amount of water intake the same for all or does it depend on a specific factor?

I've read that the standard "8, 8oz cups' is not nearly enough and that we should be drinking 1oz of water per pound of body weight. For me, that's an awful lot of water, but I noticed how much easier it is to get it all in when I cut out other beverages entirely.

i'd say shoot for the recommended 64oz a day, i go over that though.. sometimes double! there are also times where i drink below 64oz, but not very often, and it's usually bc i'm just not thirsty enough, though i have forced water before haha

Drink enough water to keep your pee colorless (or close to it) and that's enough.

Yup it depends on your activity level there is no right or set amount but your body will tell you when its hydrated by the color of your urine it will be almost clear if not clear. I consume about 1gal a day.

I've heard 8, 8oz cups of water a day. For me, that's not nearly enough, especially since I live in the hot desert and work outdoors.

Drink LOTS of water. It does a body good. And, it's almost impossible to drink too much, unless you're not eating enough.

The best amount is half of your body weight in ounces. For me, 106 ounces at least but I average about 120-140 throughout the day.

Ah, that'd be so much easier than 1oz per pound. LOL I swear, I live with my Bobble glued to my mouth. Hey, at least it keeps me from putting junk food in there! LOL

The 8 cups is minimum, for all. If you exercise and sweat you need more. I don't drink anything but water all day everyday and I easily get 12-20 cups daily..

It's one ounce per kilogram. The American Heart Assciation recommends 8-12 eight ounce glasses per day. So 64-96 ozs.

This is what I've been told and I totally agree! If you weigh more, you are going to need more water than someone smaller.

You should drink a minimum of half your body weight in ounces, and more if you exercise, work or spend time outside, etc. Eight 8-ounce glasses of water is nowhere near enough. It's really easy to drink a lot of water if you cut out soda or reduce the amount of coffee, tea, or juice that you consume.

If you feel thirsty, you've waited too long to drink water.

ah interesting. ive read in a few books an oz per pound. seems to be, a different answer to the question can be found all over. hell, i googled it and none of the 10 pages i clicked had the same recommendation. go figure!

No - the current medical recommendation is half your body weight in ounces of water. For instance, if you weigh 200 lbs, you would aim for 100 oz of water daily.

From the medical side view, it's 1/2 your body weight everyday. you weigh 100 lbs you should drink 50 oz a day... That's what I've always heard... You can drink to much and mess up your electrolyte system.. So be aware of that...
