acording to the calorie calculators, i need to be geting around 2400 cals a day.My problem is, when i start getting around 2400 cals, my protein, fat, and carbs get all out of wack. When i get my calories, carbs, and protein up where they need to be, it seems to put my fat too high.My question is, would it be better to have too many fats, or have not enough calories.I work out pretty hard, so i dont want my body go go into starvation mode, and burn muscle, amd store fat?? any opinions??

Make sure you are eating the healthy fats and you are golden.

Have you tried to adjust your macronutrient goals? Go to the goals section under home and pick "custom goals". MFP starts you at 65% carbs I think? Zone and Southbeach are 40% carbs 30% fat and protein. There isn't a real "Right" number though most of my clients that exercise regularly seem to do well at 50% carbs and 25% fat and protein. Keep the fats healthy and the carbs complex and high in fiber and you should be good. You know you have found what works for you when your energy is high and your hunger levels are low to manageable.

yeah mox, ive got it set at 40-40-20, fats being the lowest.i may actually need to up my carbs though, cause my energy levels are CRAP!! or it could just be, im lazy lol. Im goin p90x and ive had amazing results, but im doing another round now, and i really want to get my diet dialed in. I eat what i consider to be super clean. Nothing processed, or canned, and my carbs are all from whole grains like u suggested. Fats come mostly, from unsalted nuts, olive and canola oil. I do think i eat too mych peanut butter, so im gonna take that out for a few days, and see if that helps get it down a bit. As far as my carbs, most of that comes from oatmeal, whole grain brown rice, 100% whole grain bread, sweet potatoes and stuff like that.im usually NEVER hungry, since i eat every 2.5 hours. just the opposite actually, i get sick of eating.
