    got this from webmd..

Sodium: How much do you need?

The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend limiting sodium to less than 2,300 mg a day — or 1,500 mg if you're age 51 or older, or if you are black, or if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or chronic kidney disease.

staying under sodium is great! i always have a problem staying under sodium lol. i wish i maxed out at 750/800 per day! sodium is still essential to your body though, so it's still necessary to have some. i'm not exactly sure how low is too low!

The recommended amount was recently updated for specific groups,

the guidelines are aimed at those who are 51 and older, all African-Americans and anyone suffering from hypertension, diabetes, or chronic kidney disease. These people specifically need to reduce daily sodium intake to little more than half a teaspoon (1500mg) with the rest of the population at 1 teaspoon or about 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day.

I manually decreased mine to 2000 mg because I want less anyway

Thanks guys, just did a quick scour on the net and the absolute minimum that one needs in a day is 500...or so they say, so i guess im ok..im staying away from the snacks as much as possible, by that i mean crisps lol, they are always real high in salt and have never eaten ready meals etc anyway so maybe it's always been low...just seeing it here made me wonder!
