I am trying to get an idea of where I measure up in my running time.... today I ran 2.8miles in 21min..... I wasn't pushing myself to my fullest, just running at a comfortable pace (enough to keep my heart rate up) I have been running for about 7months now 3 times a week.... and I have done one 5K I want to try for an 8K....

What is a good average for someone who is 25 yrs, 5'6, 114pounds

thanks a bunch in advance :-)

I think its whatever you feel comfortable with. I usually run 9-10 min miles (which is super slow) but i also am going for longer distances (training for half marathon) (but mostly i am just reallyyyy slow) I would like to work my way to 8 min miles, but i am a ways from it :)

I dont think age is an issue with running times. Ive been running a couple of months now, igenerally run at approx 5.5mph. I did a 10mile run on saturday morning in 1hr 50mins which i was pleased with. I think its whatever you are comfortable with, if you can still breathe, then you can still run!!!

Add me as a friend if you like, you can keep track of my running, and me yours!

I don't know what the actual average would be. I think it all depends on the runner and the goals they have set. I am 5'6 and weighed 135 pds and ran 3 miles in 21 minutes, but I was always timed because I was in the Marine Corps. Maybe do some research on google and find out average time for an 8k. I don't think it depends on your weight or age, because Marathons are ran by all types of people

I run a average 8 minute mile when I run about 5 miles. If I an just going for the mile mark and time is what I am going for I can do it in about 7:15-7:25

Age does matter with running times. We do tend to get slower as we age after about 35.

A 10 minute mile is often the marker of an average runner. Some races will vary if the field is more or less competitive. 7:30 is your pace. It is definitely on the quicker end of things. You should do well. You could get an age group award at a lesser competitive race. You should easily beat over half of the people, and probably a lot more than that.

I think you're doing great! I've been running for about 6 weeks and I'm running an average 8.5 minute mile (for distances of 4 miles and more )... My 5K best time so far is with an 8 minute mile. I'm 26, height 5'2 and weight 110 lbs. Keep up the great work, and add me if you would like a fellow runner friend!

For me a mile and a half should be at maximum 13 minutes. Of course that was beaten into my head by our armed forces. :-)

You're doing 7.5 minute miles, which is awesomely fast in my book! As you didn't find it too strenuous, why not try to keep the same pace you did at 5K for your 8K, that would be a good goal.

I am 34 and weigh 137 ish and run 10k (6.2) in 54 minutes, which is pretty rubbish, really That's about 7mph, I guess. My PB is 52, but I seem to have got slower in the last 2 months. I have been running exactly a year.
