How can I have weighed in last night, and then today after my workout, weigh 7 lbs more...I've had one thing to eat since then, and it was a breakfast drink, not even a food....

How is this possible

So discouraged right now. And I have 1700 calories left for the day (from working out) and I don't want any of them....These are the feelings that I am going to be hard to break....I don't like feeling like hard work isn't paying off....

Any one else know what i'm talking about?

Your body retains more water after a workout. Your best bet is to weigh in first thing in the a.m. Before eating/drinking anything!

i promise you it's water. don't weigh yourself for the next day or two, and then weigh yourself as soon as you wake up.

Your muscles retain water after you workout.

Try weighing yourself in the morning - without your clothes on, after you pee but before you eat breakfast. That is supposed to be the most accurate weight.
  • When you exercise your building muscle mass. Muscle mass weighs more than fat. So even though the scale went up, probably due to water retention, as long as you see change in your measurements, eventually the weight will just fall off! :) don't give up on working out.

I would pick ONE DAY a week, weigh yourself in the morning before eating/working out and ONLY on that day/time...otherwise you will give yourself a mind-you know what...lol

I agree! I never weigh myself after a workout OR after I have eaten anything. It is usually an hour after I have gotten up and moved aroud a but to get the fluids moving.....I retain water while I sleep and after an hour, that has all worked it's way out. I can assure you, the 7pds is all water.

^This. Pick a time of day and only do it then for the most accurate results. First thing in the am after going to the bathroom is the common choice.

Also, your body goes through pretty radical changes at times which is why its recommended to spread out your weigh ins rather than doing it daily.

i can weigh pounds more after eating and drinking a bit anyway, and a hard workout causes your muscles to hold water too (i discovered this recently and didnt like it much either ;o) )
Those two things together could easily give you such a gain.
