Personal Trainer wants me to eat more?

MFP wants me to eat 1400 calories/day. I typically have been adding an additional 250 calories to that to make up for breastfeeding. However, I've been seeing a personal trainer for a couple months now and he wants me to be eating 1911 calories today and 153 grams of protein every day (days I don't exercise). I didn't really question him at the time but now that I stop and think about it, that seems like a lot!

Is there anyone else who's trainer (or doctor or nutritionist, etc) has suggested something pretty different from MFP? If so, what do you follow?

Thanks!

My nutritionist has me eating 1700-1800 cal (plus a recovery drink on days I work out). I'm 5'5.5" and 138 lbs- and not breastfeeding. Give it a try and see how it goes. You can always adjust it if it's too much.

I am breast feeding and I usually get close to 2000 with my workouts. I am a trainer and there is a way to do your nutritional info on your own. He knows how hard he is working you out and around how much you are burning. So I would take his word for it. It sounds like he knows what he is doing!!

If you are doing a lot of lifting exercises, you should consume high amounts of protein even on days you don't train because you're muscles are still recovering. As for the calorie amount, I would say that's about right, but if you wanted to lessen it slightly, make if from carbs on your off days.

I'd consult my trainer and verify that your goals are the same as their goals for you. I exceed my daily protein allotment but I'm trying to build muscle more than I am trying to lose weight. You may want to consult with another train in your area to see if there eating plan is similar to your trainers or to MFP.

I would think you need to eat more to make sure you have enough fuel for your workouts AND still give your baby all the nutrients she/he needs.

Okay, great! Thank you everyone :) I feel confident in my trainer. It makes sense what hroush said about the recovery for my muscles. He has me doing a lot of strength training.
