Lack of Sleep...

As the saying goes, "If you don't get enough sleep, you are slowly killing yourself!" Well, that is what I am doing and have done so for years. I am in search for ideas for a person who doesn't get enough sleep and finds it hard to sleep at night. I probably average 3-5 hours a night and 5 is rare for real, more like 3 -4. I have done Melatonin, working out, long walks, nice bath or shower, etc. and nothing seems to relax me enough to get any rest. And the bad thing is, I find myself getting tired around midday or afternoon and have to fight going to sleep at an early hour or I will be up most of the night and if I do take a nap, I have to keep it at 2 hours or less. I know sleep is very important in weight loss, muscle development and recovery, etc. Any ideas or suggestions that may help a brother out?

Insomnia maybe! Have you seen a doctor? They may have to run slepp testThey may recommend Ambien CR, which works for some. But what will put you into 7-8 restful hours is Trazadone.0

At 3-5 hours I would suggest seeing a doctor. That is a sleep disorder, and you will need help to deal with it.0

See your doctor. My doctor has me on Lunesta which has been working great for me so far. The doctor may want you to go to a sleep clinic to determine what it is and what’s best to treat it. If it is sleep apnea, Lunesta or another medicine won’t work…you’ll need a machine to help you breathe. My husband’s uncle has sleep apnea, but didn’t know it until he went to a clinic (he almost fell asleep behind the wheel due to not getting enough sleep at night). Don’t delay…this is serious and can not only prohibit weight loss but god forbid if you fall asleep while driving-that can be fatal!0

Hello friend, you may be suffering from medical condition known as" Sleep Apnea" you would be surprised of how many of us have it and don't even know it.Talk to your doctor.Tell him/her you want a sleep study done to determine this.If you do their is a solution! you would have to use a CPAP machine when you sleep.Your sleep and health will greatly improve.I wear one every night.Good luck.If you have any questions I can answer shot me a message.0

Thanks for all the responses. I have spoke to him once before and he was going to prescribe me something, but when I told him I was taking Melatonin already, he stated what he was going to prescribe would just do the same thing. When I go back, I will ask about any sleep studies and go from there. Thanks again for the feed back!!0
