I'm the same way. It helps to take measurements. If I feel discouraged, I can look at my records and see that I've lost 4 inches around my waist in the last 6 weeks.

It also doesn't help my self-esteem that my husband is losing weight twice as fast...( I know, I know, male metabolisms...)

I can relate, but keep it up it will happen. My body takes time to catch up with the scale. I know that I have what I call "weight lose zones" i can lose 5, 10,15 lbs and see not a difference and then I can lose a couple more and My clothes are falling off. Don't be discouraged. As long as the scale is going down it will happen

17 lbs is AMAZING. Dont give up, I havent even lost 1 lb and I have been trying to do this for months now... I really want to give up too. I just know how sad I will make myself if I do, Ive lost inches and gone down sizes but I cant seem to lose even a pound. Its been hard to keep going. I would kill for 17 lbs, really thats a great job. Hope you have the success you dream for :):)

Think of it in terms of something else. Like that you have lost 3 five pound bags of sugar or flour and a little more. Or almost 2 ten pound bags of potatoes. Sometimes it takes a little while to see the changes in yourself. Just keep going and one day you will wake up and boom! You WILL see a difference.

17 pounds is an awesome achievement! Never give up. You may feel frustrated now... but when you look back later after losing even more weight, you will be so happy you stuck with it. Changes will come!

No one ever noticed that I lost weight until I hit the 30 pound mark. We all carry weight differently, etc. Even now, at 45 pounds lost, only a few people have commented. But, I'm 3-4 sizes smaller, so there IS a difference.
  • I've lost 20+ lbs and don't see a difference either. No need to for new clothes yet. But looking forward to more loss and new clothes.

I completely agree!!! I did the same thing!! You are doing so fantastic! You may not see a difference but I guarantee you other people do. I look in the mirror and still see 315 lbs...other people tell me I look like I've really lost weight...even if you can't tell others can :D Measurements will keep the morale up :D

It will happen suddenl -- it happened to me just recently after 25 pounds. I finally needed new pants! I noticed the change myself after trying on a sleeveless dress that I would NEVER have tried on before, and it fit beautifully (and was on SALE!) I ended up buying pants that fit and also having some of my other pants tailored.

Now that I have pants that actually fit my body, others are noticing it as well. I had someone at work comment the other day -- and not someone that I work with regularly!
