Yep, I'm in Portland, and I'm pretty typical for this city.
I'm a pretty hard-core leftist, politically, and I've found that I generally get along better with people of a more liberal, anti-establishment bent. I'm pretty darn smart and well-educated, though I don't exactly have a regular professional job, since I quit my soul-destroying advertising job. Like so many others here, I get by.
I'm a pretty decent amateur folk/blues musician, and have been living in Portland for several years, after living in Washington DC, Seattle, and growing up in Vermont.
I'm a spiritual agnostic (in that it is impossible to know but useful as both a practice and philosophy), and a regular pot smoker (I destroy munchies with raw will). I'm super interested in the post-oil transition, permaculture, and how technology can help us overcome the rampant corruption in government and redesign how our economy works, towards a more sustainable and democratic system.
My dream is to start an electric bicycle company here in town, which I will do as soon as I can get my prototype up and running and can start digging for investors.
I've been on here about a month, thought it'd be good to make some more friends at similar stages. I've got around 80 lbs to lose, and have been pretty successful so far (I dropped an entire pant size this past month!) Additionally, I'm about 150 lbs down from my peak weight, of which 80 was a quick 5 month diet. I've been about the same size for the last 4 years, give or take 5-10 lbs. I'm around 320lbs at 6'7".
Anyway, if you're interested in what I've got to say, I'd love to hear from you. :-)
