unquenchable thirst

So, all week I've been drinking a minimum of 80 oz of water a day, usually about 120. I was never a water drinker, sweet tea and soda only, and a rarely felt "thirsty" except first thing in the morning. I haven't had anything but water out of my Brita bottle all week. No tea, soda or juice. I've heard that if you're thirsty then you are already dehydrated, but if I wasn't that dehydrated before, why would I be now? I am THIRSTY, constantly, but drinking more water than I ever have in my life, so what's the deal?

Our bodies are natural responders as well, I can drink 200 ozs a day in phoenix heat and still feel thirsty. Its not that Im dehydrated its my body going "Its frickin HOT and Im not going to risk you trying to get dehydrated" This is where sodium gets sticky too. I keep my sodium around 1500 a day I try to go as low as 1000 but if you are extremely low for too long you may need some sodium because your cells do use it to retain proper moisture/fluid levels. Im also thirstier on days Im more active regardless of temperature so if youre starting a new activity level that can do it too0

I am the SAME way!! I went from drinking 6-8 sometimes more sodas a day! With NO water, and was never really "thirsty".. I mainly just drank them for taste and a caffeine craving, and simply out of habit. Getting close to 20 days I have decreased my soda sooooo much, practically to 0! I am drinking more water now than I ever have in my life.. and now I find myself... ALWAYS reaching for the water and ALWAYS thirsty... I was really bloated from it all at first, but it is slowly getting better.... I use those little packets you can pour into the water for flavor in attempts to 'trick' myself that I am drinking something sweet and don't need to always have a straw in my mouth.. works so so ... lol0

You know I've never been a water drinker. I never drank much at all and rarely felt thirsty. Now that I'm drinking water, I need a bottle before I even have my morning coffee. I think our bodies are finally getting what they need, and they are kind of like a kid in a candy store - more, more, more. I'm glad in a way, because it makes me start the water early and it makes it easier to keep doing it all day.0

One of the signs for diabetes is a never ending thirst, I remember those days well.
Could be that you are working out more, but if nothing else has changed recently, you may want to have blood work done just in case, or borrow a testing kit from someone you know that's diabetic for peace of mind.0
