Do we need more or less protein as we age?

Does anybody know how the ageing process affects our need for protein? I'm 53, and I know from experience (as well as from reading) that women lose muscle mass as they age. I'm interested to know whether that means we need more protein or less! I've recently re-started weight training and want to do it right but I'm not convinced that the advice for a 53 year-old would be the same as for a 23 year-old. Can anyone help?

I got interested in finding the answer to my own question!

If anyone else is interested, here's a scientific article that suggests that older people need both more muscle training and more protein:

The consensus from the things I've found out there on t'internet so far seems to be that older people need a bit more protein, but not too much as it may damage the kidneys.
