Going out to eat

I'm going out to eat at a place that doesn't have nutrition facts. To stay safe I was going to go with a chicken salad. Should I just assume that the calories would be similar to a homemade chicken salad? I know this is kind of a stupid question but who knows what restaurants do.

Just find one that seems similar and ask for the dressing on the side and calculate that separately. Watch the dressing that is where the fat and calories are!
Some places have the calories on the menu too, just have fun and watch the portion sizes!

I agree with the response above. If you go for a salad, opt for a fat-free dressing, or one that's low in cals (I love any type of "vinaigrette"). Also, if the salad has a lot of add-ins such as cheese, eggs, nuts, etc that can add up the calories as well. When this situation happens to me, I search for a similar dish from a restaurant that HAS the nutritional info, and just use that. Good luck!0
