P90X Equipment needed?

So hubby and I are going to be getting P90X. We are Insanity graduates and once the summer is over need another challenge to keep ourselves going (while we have nice weather, we're just running and doing weights). We have bought some dumbbells and have a few resistance bands and wanted to know what else we need to invest in to do the program. (We have sets of 12 lbs. 15 lbs. and 20 lbs., also a couple sets of medium resistance bands and one heavy one.) If we are both going to be doing the program, do we need two pull up bars? I suspect I won't be able to do the pull ups, and may just use the resistance bands for pull downs instead? Generally with the dumbbells in the exercises we have been doing, he has worked up to the 20s for most exercises and I'm still in mostly 15 pound range, so I don't think we'll be doubling up too much on those, but is there anything we need lighter weights for? Thanks in advance for any info.

It does use a pull-up bar, and they show multiple ways to use the bar if you don't want to free-hang, such as the resistance bands, or assisted pull-ups where all you need is a chair. They recommend a mat and some push-up bars too, but I didn't really use the program all the way through; just tweaked the principles and concepts to my own liking.

If 2 people are doing pull-ups, you can either take turns or use resistance bands and both do pull-downs. That would save some money.

I purchased a pull-up bar, set of weights (I got the Selecttech 552's so I could adjust from 5 to 52 pounds depending on the exercise), a yoga mat, and push-ups stands (because lots of push-ups hurt my wrists since I broke one of them a few years ago). I already had to resistance bands, but I would buy a set of those if I hadn't already owned them. I think that's about all I used.

Oh, and a soft pillow for Ab Ripper X.

My fiance and I are doing it and I bought two chin up bars but she ended up going to the bands around week 4.

As far as the dumbbell weight, For now, 20's will be ok but during the weight workouts, you do back moves and I can promise you your husband will be able to do more than 20's for them.

Pretty much that is all you need, dumbbells, pull up bars, yoga blocks, yoga mat, and a BRING IT attitude.

Since you have finished Insanity you may find out Kenpo doesn't do much for you. Around day 45 I switched to a hybrid and replaced kenpo and yoga with Insanity workouts during the week but moved yoga to my Sunday workout.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yeah, I agree with olag00. I stopped doing Plyo and Kenpo after finishing Insanity cause I get more out of Pure Cardio and Plyo Cardio Circuit which is what I use instead.

And if you can't get yoga blocks, sacks of flour work too. That's what I used when I first started years ago. I almost forgot about that one.

Oh, nice, I didn't know I'd need yoga blocks, will get some of those! I'm thinking one pull up bar at this point, and just save the extra from the second pull up bar to get some more dumbbells when they are needed! Thanks for the advice about the cardio too, that's good to know, I'll love getting back to pure cardio, not sure I want to do plyo cardio circuit again on a regular basis, but could be convinced, LOL.
