Feeling lost

so I'm in a plateau. It's been a month with no real loss. I'm starting to loose some conviction. Now I log everything (even when I go over) but Im realizing I'm making poor choices, getting lazy about paying attention, eating whatever. Does anyone have any advice to maybe kick the loss back in gear? Also no worries about my state if mind. I'm working on that.

You gotta get motivated!! Picka celebrity with a killer body and make her your inspiration for getting fit! Get in the gym 4-6 times a week and do at least 1 hour of cardio. If you want to lose weight and be healthy at the same time follow this diet plan:

    Daily:
2 servings of Protein (red meat only once a week)
4 servings of Vegetables (no carrots)
    3 servings of fruit
2 servings of starches (1 slice of whole wheat bread= 1 serving)
Also, you can have 1 protein bar or low calorie bar (fiber one bars) per day

I agree with the wise advice above me!

You need to find something that inspires you, it doesn't have to be a person or a certain look. Make a list of things "long term," that you feel would inspire you to continue on through this weight loss journey. Focus on feelings and other physical related goals rather than a number or a size.

Then... find some support here on MFP! I am more than happy to cheer you on. Sometimes I just don't want to exercise at all, or even have an extra serving of whatever. Seeing how hard my friends are working helps me stay on the right track.

I would also consider finding a workout buddy, someone to hold you accountable.

I do hope this helps. Please don't feel discouraged. Many of us get this way after the ups and downs of weight loss, so you are not alone. Be positive and don't forget to smile

    Best of luck!
  • I feel ya, sister! I am in the same boat. I lost thirty pounds and haven't put my heart back into it since vacation in March! Despite my bad example, I haven't put any weight on and here are a few tips that I find motivate me:

    1. Eat five servings of veggies a day. Even when you eat the occational cheese burger, you're so full that it's hard to binge. I go all out at the farmer's market and make myself huge salads with nothing but more veggies (and a low-fat dressing) as toppings. I am under my calorie intake almost every day, but I can't eat another bite!

    2. Do something physically challanging and decide to reward yourself once you accomplish it! I made it my goal to hit up a one-hour class at my gym each day for six days. When I did, I bought myself a new purse. Now, every time I see that purse, I am reminded of how good it felt to finish a small, but still very challanging goal!

    3. Decide to change one thing about yourself every week. When I started, I threw away our salt shaker. The next week, I decided to start taking the stairs at work. The week after that, I decided to stop replacing all of the refined sugars in our house. I kept track of all my small, simple changes in the "notes" section of my planner and now when I look at the 18-20 small commitments, I realize that I changed a lot of bad habits. I feel like a badass when I see it.

Stay motivated. Remember that you have thousands of years of evolution working against your weight loss and making you crave the bad stuff so it's okay to slip up a little! Stay beautiful on the inside and the outside stuff will come easily.

Get inspired (like the wise words above) and set goals. Find a way to stay accountable, whether it's MFP or an exercise buddy. I'd be happy to help support you. Friend me if you'd like.

What helps me sometimes, is reminding myself that I deserve to be the happiest, healthiest version of who I am. Instead of thinking "I DESERVE that milkshake!" I'll try to think sometime like "I deserve to put the best in my body!" For me at least, it's 80% mental and 20% set-up, i.e., having just healthy foods at home, etc.

    Hope this helps!

I've kind of been on the same track -- lost my mojo. When I started this whole thing, I made myself a vision board that is hanging in my bedroom so it's the first thing I see when I get up in the morning and the last when I got to bed at night. I used to look at it -- I mean, really look at it -- every day and it was inspiring. But, I found that lately I don't even give it a glance. I am too close to goal now to lose my motivation, so I made myself sort of go back to day one. Maybe a vision board will help you.

Remember, your MFP friends are always here for you. Chin up, Wilbur! (It's from Charlotte's web. One of my favorite quotes!)

Hey Caroline, why no carrots? That threw me off.

It's sometimes so hard to stay motivated, the slightest things can throw you off and make it hard to get back on track (I know).

I love the suggestions noted above and you should seriously consider them. When I first started MFP, I felt like hell and totally out of shape. When my doggy was still alive, we would walk in a doggy walk each May. We wouldn't get too far because he was a little tank and then got sick with cancer. I have completed this 5K (the whole thing) for the two years since he died. That was my motivator to get back into shape. Next year, I'm running that 5K!

The best thing about MFP is that people are in the same boat as you - I have never known such a unique group of people who are just like me - Always last in gym class, stretching clothes so that they look better on you (and you hide flub), feeling like you just want to give up and knowing that days like that are going to come and you take them head on - it's amazing the support you get if you just keep at it. Let someone who was where you are be your motivator. Join a challenge and feed off of the posts on those threads, buddy up with people who share your same struggles (hint hint, sending you a friend request).

Long story short...YOU CAN DO IT!!

Sounds like you've been given some good advice here. I know that when I was at a standstill for 2weeks I just kept at it. If you plan your meals/snacks in advance and stick to them, exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes and drink more water than you think you can then you will release the lbs!

To get things jumpstarted choose one day - TOMORROW - to do EVERYTHING right. You will feel great when you get into bed tomorrow night, which will motivate you to do it again the next day. Good luck - I know you can do it. Friend me if you'de like. Feel free to peak at my diary for ideas.

    You're not alone girlie!
