Any suggestions on how to get through a birthday?

So today is my birthday, which means I know where they are taking me. Buca DeBeppo. ( love Italian) I went once in the last few months and got the most health conscious item on the menu and was sadly bored with it. Is it OK to eat something more enjoyable today in a smaller amount or is that the jump the shark moment? I know its important to make sure I continue to eat normally throughout the day and not starve myself just so I can eat tonight, that I have learned. Not really concerned about cake, not interested, But italian with the pasta and the cheese and the oil ( and the pesto! ) that can't be so good. Any input? Maybe i'm looking to far into this?     Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day then go back to the plan tomorrow. A little treat now and again wont hurt, and might actually help to stop your metabolism from slowing.

    I turned 30 in March and my attitude towards my birthday meal.... stuff it and enjoy it!

    First up, Happy Birthday! if it were me I'd have a day off. Life really is too short and if you can't celebrate on your birthday when can you? But perhaps you can have it both ways. It's about portion size at the end of the day. Perhaps order whatever you want and ask them to serve half of it and present you with the rest when you leave. Or if you feel awkward ask friend/partner whoever you're going to the meal with to do it discreetly on your behalf - it is your birthday after all! Have a great day!

    Happy birthday! I would eat regular today and order what you want. You don't have to eat it all. I don't know if you have kids, but if we go out to eat I split with my daughter that way I don't pig it all down myself you can always get a salad w it if you think it's not enough. It's all about moderation. Have a great day!

    Happy Birthday!!!! I say pick your favorite meal... and ask for a to-go box right away. Enjoy your dinner and have a SMALL slice of cake/pie and celebrate a healthy new you! You deserve it!

    Honestly, go a head and order what you want, it's your birthday and you deserve to!! In addition to that, I have heard that by zig zagging, (it helps to boost your metabolism). So every few weeks i have a day that i allow myself to go over on calories slightly, enough to say to my body- "hey something is different!"- i have noticed that with that, i see a little bit more weight loss the following week... So have a great meal with your family! Enjoy the rest of your day!
