Hi everyone! I'm 23 yrs old. I'm 5'3" and 172lbs. I've been overweight ever since I was about 12 years old. I'm aiming to lose approx. 2 lbs. weekly. I'm currently attending 60 mins. yoga class 2-3 times a week. I'm afraid that my skin will sag. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience similar to my situation to share? :flowerforyou:

No one can say for sure,as it has some to do with heredity. But there are things you can do to help avoid as much as possible
you already have the 1st one, lose it slowly. It gives the skin time to adjust.
drink a LOT of water. at least 8 8oz glasses a day. more if you exercise.
Strength train. Do NOT be afraid of the weights. It will def help you with skin sag, and give you so much confidence due to your newly found strength.
You are young and your skin still has all of its elasticity. It will likely be ok.0 -
Also, I want to include my question regarding the stretch marks that I've acquired through the years....Is there something I can do that will help them heal? I read up on it and many people said that it's not something you will ever get rid of. Kind of depressing. FYI, they are no longer pink/red because I've gotten them years ago.0

I don't think you have anything to worry about........you are only 172 lbs, young, losing smaller amounts per week and don't have a large amount to lose (usually the saggy skin will happen with obese people)........I am obese and the first time I lost 80 lbs I was in my late 20's and I am 5,4" and had no issues with sagging skin.....this time around (I gained that weight back ) I am 39 yrs, with about the same amount to lose, who knows if i will be as lucky ....but I think it will be okay......so don't worry about it...if you want to have some extra insurance incorporate some strength training to tighten the muscles underneath and try to stick to 1-2 lbs loss per week max. So go for it and good luck .....0

Ya unfortunately on some level they will always be with you.....they will fade over the years but they are tears under the skin that can't be repaired......I have heard that coco butter, bio oil and other creams/oils can help prevent them but once they are there that is it. I got them as a teen on my inner thighs because i went through a growing spurt and it was to fast for my body to adjust (not in heaviness, but I grew taller etc....I was about 125 lbs at that time)....and still have them but so faded that I really don't notice them at all.....same with ones on my stomach....they started out purplish, and now unless in the right light i don't even know they are there...... so to help prevent future ones you might want to try moisturing with coco butter etc just in case ......and if it makes you feel any better I read a while back a survey that was asked to men about women with stretch marks and in short they really didn't care ......0

Firstly, thank you arewethereyet and greeneyes490 for the replies. I will try applying some coco butter and see if that will help. I have them on my arms, partly on my shoulder and stomach. Over the years they have gotten lightER but I can still notice them. >.<0

Heya darlin... first off, just do it day by day! :flowerforyou: If you *DO* log everything you eat... and *DO* log your exercise calories... and try to lose just 1 measly pound a week... then guess what?! You WILL do it! Really! I know it seems like it won't happen, like it's a fictional story with some other character, but really, it's YOU!:flowerforyou: Right now, don't let anything get in your way, including yourself, of becoming the wonderful, sexy, beautiful... YOU that is happenning right now! hugz! :drinker:0

I have heard good things about taking L-Carnetine supplements...? There is also lotion with L-carnitine in it. Its worth a try? Supposedly it tightens your skin and reduced the look of cellulite.0
