Ok, so I am really trying to get my abs and butt in good shape for bikini season... is it bad to be working these muscles 5-6 days a week... I have been doing a butt workout twice a day 5-6 days a week... I have seen lots of improvement in both areas and I am not too sore .. so is this ok.. or too much for my muscles? I know it frowned on to over work arm muscles so i usually train those at most 3 times a week. anyways... thoughts , advice, expertise ???

Thanks in advance MFP peeps :-) HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Given I can only tell you what Ive been advised by Physicians and trainers but you are over working your musclesw, it may not hurt YET but you are risking injurying yourself. And honestly if you arent atleast a little sore post workout how intensely are you working out?

Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred! Works out the entire body in about 20 minutes a day!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!

You should give your muscles some rest each week. Also, you should feel a little something after a workout. Make sure you are using and focusing on the muscles you want to work.

I think abs are one of the only muscle groups that don't need a lot of time off. However pay attention to your body. If you get too sore, take some time off.

The trainer at my gym told me that I shlould work a certain area of my body each day and then give that area atleast a days rest, except for abs, which can be worked out everyday.

You don't get better by training. You get better by recovering from training. Your goal is to give your body the right stimulus - serious exercise - and then give it time to adapt to that stimulus. With your current routine you won't recover enough between workouts to get the benefits you want. Your muscles will quickly become overtrained.

I think, if you are overworking your abs, they will let you know it! You will have to rest them!

If you are trying to reduce the size, then go for it.
