Running Shoe Suggestions

Options
Hello all! I have recently decided to add the C25K program into my fitness goals, and I started just the other day. In fact, today will be Week 1, Day 2 for me. I'm really surprised by how easy the program is and that it only takes 30 minutes 3 times a week. But, I need some new running shoes. I have some older ones I am using now, but they're a bit worn out. I need something more supportive.

Does anyone have any running shoes they are using and absolutely love? I am going to head to a store that specializes in this kind of thing on Saturday to find the very best pair for me, but I just wanted to maybe narrow down brands I should look in and whatnot.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Every foot is different, so instead of recommending a shoe, I HIGHLY recommend that you head to a running store where they can fit you for a shoe appropriate for your gait and foot anatomy. They are usually fairly comparable, price-wise to other places and the expertise there is a big bonus.

Just because a shoe works for someone doesn't mean they'll work for you. Don't worry about brand or anything like that. Just go with what the pro's suggest at the store. Chances are that if it's a good store like Fleet Feet they wont carry bad brands anyway. Good luck and c25k rocks. I'm on week 2 day 2 today.

I swear by nike air zooms ..cant get them any more. I looked all over my city for a decent pair of running shows specifically for c25K and it seems they only sell sneakers for the fashion market. I went to Niketown London and there they have running specialists who actually put you on a treadmill and record your individual running style then they measure you up..unfortunately, the shows I liked they didn't have instore, So i ordered them through their website.

Shoes are very much a personal taste thing, though..I have always favoured nikes as they used to give me 'free' shows when I played in college. If you can find a specialist running store, you will pay a little more but for the advice from the sales rep etc it will be worth it because they themselves are most likely to be runners too...but they might also be incentivised to sell one brand over another..

I use Asics and I love them! I have knee problems and when I run they get pretty bad. These running shoes give me the support I need. I have the newest ones with the gel and duomax. They can be expensive (mine were about $100) but well worth it to me.
