What time do you guys stop eating? I try to stop around 7 or 8, but as my husband doesn't get in from work till late, sometimes its hard to eat early. What is a good time to stop eating, and what are some tips to help keep the weight loss moving after eating late?

A lot of the time, if i eat late, i will take my dog on a walk for about 30 minutes, or a mile n a half.

Thanks guys!

I agree with dls06. It doesn't matter. Your body can't tell time.

My schedule works out so that i go straight from work to the gym so i dont get home until 730 or so. Then i have to cook still! so i eat until whenever i want really, as long as i have the calories.

I generally dont eat for 2 hours before my bed time. I usually go to bed at 11 so 9 is my cut off. Of course if Im up later I allow myself to eat a little later. I try to stick to light foods that late in the evening though and avoid carbs.

My sister never has dinner later than 7pm but that can be hard. I personally try not to eat a very heavy meal just before I go to bed because I don't think it's comfortable. It's really what you are comfortable with. I don't think it makes an enormous difference to weight loss.

How late you eat doesn't matter as much as *what* you eat. You're going to bed, which means your metabolism won't be working as hard, which means that if you eat carbohydrates & sugars, they won't get used. They'll be stored as fat. Which you don't want.
However, that does not happen if you eat protein. Unlike carbs & sugars that give you an energy "spike," protein is burned slowly & steadily. It will just sustain your metabolism through the night without causing any weight gain. So if you get the late-night munchies, go ahead & indulge, but make it beef jerky or a hard-boiled egg or a piece of cheese. NOT chips, crackers or cookies.

Also, your strategy of going for a walk after eating supper is an excellent idea. That way if you do have excess carbs & sugar left in your body after eating late, you can burn it off before bed.

As long as your daily calories are within your limit it doesn't matter what time you last eat at night. Your body doesn't know. If you work late don't feel bad about eating a meal late at night.

I work 7am-4pm so my daily schedule is different but If I have to have a snack, I try to have it before 9pm. Late night eating for me tends to want to be unhealthy and can easily ruin the whole day calorie wise. So as a rule I don't eat anything late in order to keep me away from the junk. I used to enjoy junk eating late at night while watching tv. Now I exercise around 8pm for an hour or so and go to bed early, eliminates the bad of tv watching and snacking late into the night.

i think it depends what time your going to bed, so say you go to bed around midnight, i would stop eating around 7:30-8..

The latest I eat is 7 no matter what time I go to bed. I eat dinner around 5:30 and a small snack (fruit or yogurt) by 7, then I am done!
