I am a fairly new vegetarian, and was wondering if there is anyone out there that have any good recipes? Preferably ones high in iron and protein. Thanks

i recently found a recipe for Bakesale Betty's VEGANIZED Fried Chicken Sandwiches and LOVE THEM. they are pretty simple to make, and im not usually one for "fake" meat! im not sure what the iron content in these are though.

I get lots of recipes from the Vegetarian TImes website: http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/ Also Morning Star Farms and Boca products are amazing!0

I'm a new vegetarian too, but have found it surprisingly easy to get enough protein. Iron is always a problem, though. I started eating Total cereal every other day mainly because of the iron content so I don't have to worry too much. I also throw spinach into sandwiches and vegetable stir fry. I just couldn't live without my ginger, vegetable, and tofu stir fry with teriyaki sauce over brown rice. Thanks for the post - I'm keeping an eye on it for new recipes and websites.0

Quinoa is a great way to get some protein; I like to use it in place of rice in stir frys to shake things up a bit
Good luck to you; becoming a vegetarian is one of the best choices I've ever made.0 -

I just found this recipe that I'm going to be trying in the next week! Hope it helps.
Tofu Tacos
1 tsp. olive oil
1 lb. extra firm tofu, drained, pressed, and cut into cubes
1 Tbsp. taco seasoning
8 tortillas
8 oz. cooked black beans
8 oz. vegetarian refried beans
8 oz. corn
1 cup shredded lettuce
Guacamole, vegan sour cream, vegan cheese, and/or fresh salsa
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the tofu and the taco seasoning and sauté until golden.
Fill the tortillas with the cooked tofu and any other desired fillings (black beans, refried beans, corn, lettuce, etc.).
Makes 4 to 6 servings0 -
I'm vegan and have found recipes on youtube and by googling. There are also some other great sites like

Plus, beans, quinoa, organic soy (like tofu and tempeh) are great sources of protein. Since you are vegetarian and not vegan then you can also eat things like eggs, cheese and milk but, consider getting your amino acids in your system because THOSE are the protein building blocks so your body can rebuild its OWN protein rather than relying so heavily on animal-based. Congrats on going vegetarian and all the best on your healthier lifestyle.0 -
