I had lost over 85lbs in about 8-9mos and then everything came to a stop. I joined MFP to give me the help and support I needed to loose that last 20...but I'm just not loosing. I'm 32 yrs old, 5 5', and weigh anywhere from 153-158 lbs. I just go back and forth-back and forth between 153 and 158. It is frustrating. I have not been logging all of my meals for a while because of my sloooow computer service...but have been counting my calories at home and am almost always in the 1400-1500 cal range right where I'm supposed to be. I think I eat a pretty healthy diet. Most often I have Post Honey Nut Shredded wheat for breakfast and if I go running I might have a handful of almonds or something when I get back. I usually eat salad with chickpeas and tuna for lunch or a wrap with hummus, turkey, and vegetables. Dinner could be anything...last night it was pork chops, salad, and sweet potato fries. I usually have an afternoon snack of fruit or a granola bar or something.

For cardio I run (just started running a couple of mos ago) or walk and I do kettle bell workouts for strength training...I will admit that if I skip a workout, it is usually the strength training. I haven't really lost anything in 6 or 7 mos. My brother has been doing nothing more than walking like he has done for years and changed his diet and he reached his goal of 120lbs in less than a year...but I just can't seem to get there!! Any advice?

If you can say what you eat on an average day-change it. The key with losing the last few pounds is body confusion. Don't do the same workout two days in a row, don't eat the same foods two days in a row (try calorie cycyling as well). Also at this point strength training is VERY important.

maybe you need to re-compute your calorie needs. if you have been following the 1400-1500 cal range for so long then maybe its time you need to re-modify it a bit. OR add more challenge to your exercise so that you will burn more calories. this is because your basal metabolic rate, the amount of calories our body burns on a daily basis for being alive, decreases as you lose weight & the amount of calories you needed to eat when you were heavier does not apply anymore to your current weight.

also don't compare yourself to your brother because men naturally tend to lose weight faster than us females because men have less body fat and more muscle on their body than ours.

If you really want to lose fat quickly and I have proof of this men and women wise.. HIIT High Intensity Interval Training. We have men and women alike in our classes and all see great results in weeks literally. Even the women we have in their 60's are seeing major differences in 14 days. Its crazy! I dropped 24.5 pounds of fat just doing this, and you feel awesome and like an athlete.
