Hi there:indifferent: ,
Im on target to my weight loss goal:smooched: . however:huh: , still have massive issues in leaving food when im full, not
finishing packets etc, or only having 1 biscuit, instead I eat at least ten:sick: !!!
Like yesterday and today, I helped out with an opening evening for students who want to do the course im doing and there was
free tea and buscuits and I had about 5 packets =/ I felt so bloated and full I told my self today I would leave them:sad: ,
BUT straight away I was there with a biscuit in my mouth, tonight going for a curry, I HAD to finish off the nan bread even though I was full!!!
HELPPPP:explode: !!!
How do I train myself to not behave this way
Its affecting my last weight loss:sad: !!!
Thanks

After eating some, wait about 15 min. and see if you are still hungry. It takes time for your stomach to tell your brain it's full.. also drink some water while eating too! If you know for sure you are full and are still going for a second helping, you need to practice serious self control... go chew a piece of gum or grab a piece of fruit instead.
For me, what I do is eat and then log my numbers and have it staring me in the face, that is usually enough for me to stop eating when I'm full :P0 -
i have the same problem, with me it has to do with being without before, i cant stand to throw away food i would clean my plate and anything you left behind, try saving it for later or just put out less0

I look at food in terms of exercise. Like, that one biscuit is going to cost me so many minutes in jogging. That tends to make me walk away0

It was really hard for me to throw food away in the beginning too. What I did was just pack it up as left overs and stick it in the fridge. Everything that I didn't want to eat that I also couldn't bring myself to throw away I did this too. So the half a hot dog my son didn't finish, that last little scoop of rice in the pan, and that one little bite of random whatever that I didn't really want, but was just sitting there, all got put in a ziplock and stuffed in the fridge. I ate some of them every once in a while when I was hungry and just wanted a bite of something, but by and large the biggest chunk of the bags went in to the garbage a week later when the fridge had too many little bags in it, and some of them had started to turn. It's a lot easier to throw away leftovers that no longer look good at all than it is to throw away that last tasty bite.
After a while of this, I would look at the food, knowing it was going to go into a bag, and then sit in the fridge until I threw it away when it got bad. Once I made that connection it was way easier to skip the middle step of letting it turn in the fridge and just throw it away without packaging it up.
I knew I was "cured" when on my birthday I had one small piece of cake, shared the rest, and then at the end of the night dumped a ton of it into the trash. :-)0 -
There is no magic wand. You have to say "No!" and follow through. Put the packet away. Give it away even throw it away.0

I had a really hard time getting over this myself. I was stuck on "I don't want to waste food. I need to finish it." and more recently "just one won't hurt..."
How I got over the wasting thing- I looked at whatever it was and told myself "you're either going to 'waste' it in the trash or 'waist it' in your gut. What's more important?" everytime my waistline won. Now it's easy for me to stop- I get the feeling of full and I clear my plate away or if I'm out move my plate to the end of the table and pile the napkins on it so it looks like garbage.
The next problem is overcoming the 'just one won't hurt' because it will... That one is going to take some work for me. Hopefully you find something that works for you to trigger that feeling that it's totally fine if you don't clean your plate or finish the pack of biscuits. You're the one in control... Just gotta keep your hands on the wheel.

At home I use a small plate (salad/desert type of plate), it helps me think I have eaten a lot because the plate it empty. I will put other things in smaller bags so when I finish the bag I am done with that snack.
I will also drink water when I want/should stop eating.
Chewing gum or sucking on a mint helps too, I won't eat if I have gum or mints in my mouth.
Eat out is always an issue since they tend to use huge plates and huge helpings. I know some people who ask for a to-go container as soon as they get their food and they will put half away before eating anything.0 -
If you find that magic cure, please let me know. I know that is my biggest problem. I'm okay right now because I am logging all my food in the morning (I work 2nd shift), making sure that what I have planned for lunch and dinner works and allows me room for snacks... then I make up the containers with the specified weights of each food and take it to work and eat just that. But when I'm not in "losing" mode, I don't know what I'm going to do because I've always had the problem of eating even though I am full. It doesn't even have to be on my plate, I have devoured a pan of brownies that I made to take to work the next day. This is behaviour modification and I need to control my behaviour soon because I don't want to end up back in these clothes again. I'm giving them to Goodwill as soon as I don't fit in them anymore and I'm not looking back.0

I have to limit myself to a certain amount (or nothing!) and just stick to it - as soon as I start entertaining the idea that I could have more, I will eat the whole packet and still be hungry! You just have to be fierce with yourself from the very beginning0

I have portion rules...so with biscuits none is best, one is being good, 2 okay-normal person portion,3 and I am being a piggy!0

I always have the urge to finish my plate of food even though I was never raised to 'clean my plate'. Seeing food left just bothers me for some reason, usually if it's a food I really like. I've been trying to work around that by giving myself smaller portions, and ordering half size portions at restaurants. I also have been paying more attention to stopping when I'm full no matter what. It's definitely difficult though!!0

Thank you all for your feedback, I have been alot better lately, I choose to not eat things now instead of starting and not stopping, like if someone offers me a chocolate, I say no because if I have one, I will want more.
Cheers again xxx0
