At 45 years old your max heart rate should be less than 175 bpm

Curious myself, I have a heart rate monitor, and my zone is 111-145 so sometimes when I run i get into the 150's. Is that a bad thing?

Age is what most go by, but of course everyone is different. There are scales published, use the google.

The standard formula everyone uses for max heart rate is 220-your age. However, that number has virtually no science behind it. Currently there are studies going on trying to come up with a better formula, and there are other formulas out there. In the end what really determines your maximum heart rate is how strong your legs muscles are as they assist the heart a great deal in pumping as they flex. Having said that, using 220-your age is not so horrible that you can't use it, but take the number with a grain of salt. Here is a much more extensive article on max heart rate calculations that show how much disagreement there is right now. http://www.brianmac.co.uk/maxhr.htm BTW it also has a calculator for the various formulas at the bottom of the page.
