Need motivation while recovering!

Help! after being treated 5 weeks for a sprain, I finally had an MRI done and diagnosed with stress fracture in my lower leg. Apparently happened when I changed from running 3 miles indoor on a soft track to going to 3 miles outdoors on hard road surface.

The boot I was in for the sprain had caused me intense pain (strap went directly over fracture) so I am in a cast now for the next 2-3 weeks.

I have been using this as my "excuse" not to exercise, and have gotten into some very bad eating habits again.

I need some motivation to get back on track (no pun intended!) And was wondering if anyone knows approximately how long it will be before I can start running again realistically? And what kinds of exercise would be good starters for my journey back to where I was?

Thank you!!!

Bummer :grumble: I hurt my knee from a running training injury about a month ago and still can't run and am just starting to be able to walk fast. It's very discouraging to have such a setback, but do what you can as far as sticking with your calories and maybe lift some dumb bells, do some boxing for cardio and the bike, if your dr oks it (I hate the bike but better than nothing i guess). Hope you feel better soon!

in the mean time you can always do workouts with you arms and body eg weights and sit ups, just to keep in the habbit of exersize (:
