Scale Question

In my bedroom I have carpet so when I step on the scale it doesn't do anything because it's being cushioned. But when I go into my hallway, where I have wood flooring, to weight myself the scale says a different thing every spot I move it to! Why does this happen?

The scale can only be accurate on a hard, level floor so that your weight is evenly distributed amongst however many sensors the scale has. So try to find the flattest patch of your hard floor and always weigh yourself there. Any other way to weigh is a short trip to crazytown.

That happened to me too. I thought the scale was broken lol. It's accurate on hard surfaces.
  • Yep, only use the scale on hard surfaces. I put my scale in the same spot every time to be consistent.

it's measuring the gravitational force pulling down your body toward the ground, if carpet absorbs some of that force in its springyness, the scale will not give accurate readings

Thanks you guys! I think I'm going to put a piece of tap somewhere so I will know where to put the scale every week.

The scales i have came with "carpet feet", which seems to do the trick, although it still changes slightly depending on how i actually stand on it, how i lean, etc. I just use it as a rough guide, and then use the proper big scales at the gym once a week :)
