not sure...my HRM calculates my calories for me...but I would love to know if there is another way to figure out the calories.

    [(0.6309 x heart rate beats per minute) + (0.09036 x weight in pounds) + (0.2017 x age in years) - 55.0969] x time in minutes / 4.184.

here is the math for it

Here is one useful site in general: http://www.fitday.com/webfit/burned/calories_burned.html
Here is a post someone put up in 2009 that might help:
    (1+0.0276*(HR-100))*(3.5+0.0887*(W-40))*T

I know my heart rate was at least 120 bpm while I was spinning last night

My weight is 139 lbs, which should equal 63 kg per Google

And I was spinning for 45 minutes

    (1+0.0276*(120-100))*(3.5+0.0887*(63-40))*45

Do what's in parentheses first and that comes down to:

    (1+0.0276*20)*(3.5+0.0887*23)*45

Then do the multiplication within the parentheses:

    (1+0.552)*(3.5+2.0401)*45

Then do what's left in parentheses:

    1.552*5.5401*45

That comes out to approx 387 calories burned.
