I want to get one but really dislike the ones with the chest strap. Any recommendations? I looked at the ones that are just a watch but those dont seem that they could be very accurate.

I have a watch HRM and I love it,,it is within 50-75 calories of what the gym machines say when I workout and the heart rate is accurate to what the machine says....my heart rate on the machine is usually 3-5 off of what my HRM says..0

If you want one, and you want it to be accurate, you need one with a chest strap. Since you mentioned you don't like the chest strap ones, you're kind of SOL.
I have a Polar FT7 and love it. It has a chest strap but i find it to be rather comfortable and forget about it after a bit.0 -
IMHO, Polar makes the best HRMs. They all use a chest strap, which, again IMHO, is the best way to measure heart rate.
Polar does make a sports bra with an integrated chest strap, so that might be an option that is more comfortable for you.0
