Today is the first day to get my butt healthy and into shape! I have never been successful with dieting and excersizing but I am unhappy with how I look and need the energy to keep up with my little one! Hopefully I can follow through this time because more than ever I really want this!
As far as eating...I dont even know where to start with healthy meals that will also be satisfying. HELP!

Shoot me a friend request
As for eating, the first place I send my clients is to Michi's Ladder.

Hi there,
I'm re-starting this diet/exercise thing too! I"ve been so bad lately and now that it's summer I can't hide in sweats and coats! I'm so depressed b/c my clothes are tight and all I see is rolls of fat in my shirts. I was invited to go to my friend's beach house/beach today and I was so depressed b/c I didn't want to wear a bathing suit. I'm tired of feeling this way and I have 3 kids to keep up with. I've been so down about my weight and the way I look so it's time to get motivated. I've been on lots of diets before and liked Weight Watchers but never have time to get to a meeting w/o my kids. I walked today for 45 minutes and have been eating well today so I guess that's a start. I feel like tracking my food and exercise really helps. LEt me know if you have any ideas too! Good luck! It's hard but I'm looking forward to some results soon!

Good luck to everyone beginning the journey of weight loss and leading a healthier lifestyle, and to all those who have already achieved success and are continuing on... I have also struggled with my weight for my entire life, and being a 21 year old female, I definitely shouldn't have to feel as self conscious as I do! I hate being "the fat friend"... it's something I promise myself I am going to change this year and so far this site has helped me tremendously!
Please feel free to add me as a friend! I need all the encouragement and support I can get0 -
Just take your time make small changes and take everything one step at a time. It's hard when you first start out to figure out the whole food world! Eating right foods, right amounts, when to eat, how much to eat! It's NOT a walk in the park. I remember when I started if I didn't have dinner planned ahead I'd sit in the supermarket parking lot for an hour trying to figure out what to eat without going over! Sometimes I still find myself trying to figure it out ESP when things change. You need to figure out what works for you it takes changes to your cals. Make sure you drink lots of water, take a good multi vitamin, and key is to watch your sodium. Doing that inst easy so figure out the food first then work on the tweaking of the sodium, fats, carbs and such! Everyone gets frustrated get friends on here it helps! Take a small break come back have one day a week to eat what you like but don't over do it! every ones different so don't judge your progress by others. (I did that not good) have fun with it! That's I I have to say.0

Welcome and good luck! You asked for food suggestions, so here are a couple of things that have helped me to reduce my caloric intake. Eggs: pretty much any perparation is good but hard boild is easiest and doesn't involve adding any fat. Believe it or not, I didn't know how to boil an egg. Maybe you are in the same boat. Put an egg in a pot and just barely cover it with water. Put it on the stove top on high heat. As soon as the water really starts to boil set a timer for 8 minutes. As soon as the timer goes off, remove the pot from the stove and immediately run cold water over the egg. Done! Next: Chicken breast (boneless, skinless): pretty much no flavour so you have to find a way to prepare it that works for you. I like to sprinkle mine with a good dry rub and then grill it. Finally: Oven roasted turkey breast from the deli counter. Very low-cal, high protein, and has some flavour. If you are watching sodium, then look for low-sodium product. Approx 80 Grams of turkey will make a very substantial sandwich on whole grain bread.0
